Born in Lake Forest, Illinois, Jason Khao Han is a violinist and composer who studied classical music and majored in film arts during his college years before turning to jazz. He has worked with Anthony Braxton (sax, cl, p), William Parker (b), and many other forward-thinking artists, a history reflected in this dynamic new release by his Human Rights Trio. The exciting performances include  track 1 and 2 (Words Asleep, Spoken Awake) which suggests a King Crimson influence, and  track 6 (Defiance) which creates a magnificent sound space through an interplay of bows with his frequent collaborator Ken Filiano. - Takehiko Tokiwa, Jazz Life.
