The brilliant violinist, virtuoso violinist and composer Jason Kao Hwang occupies a privileged place at the forefront of jazz and creative music of our time. In his fertile artistic transit poke Tiananmen symphony: The Challenge commissioned by the Multicultural Music Group, The Floating Opera Box, A Story in Chinatown, leadership byte Burning Bridge (his debut very record with the self-titled album in 2012), the quartet EDGE (I embodied in the album Edge 2006 Stories Before Within in 2008 and Crossroads Unseen 2011), the string ensemble Spontaneous River (with which I edit Symphony of Souls in 2011), his duet with guitarist and performer bouzouki Ayman Fanous (Zitzal 2013) and its two most recent groups: the trio accompanied by Rami Amygala Seo and Michael Weberly and the quintet Sing completing Andrew Drury House, Ken Filiano, Chris Forbes and Steve Swell. All this, not to mention the contributions made in favor of Anthony Braxton, William Parker, Pauline Oliveros, Oliver Lake, Henry Threadgill, Butch Morris and Vladimir Tarasov, among many others. 

The acclaimed album developed by Jason Kao Hwang soon will add the album Voice. 

This new project is based on Hwang compositions on texts from different poets and consists of two parts. The first one includes poems Lester Afflick, Patricia Spears Jones and Davida Singer and has the backing instrumental quartet EDGE-composed of the leading violin, Taylor Ho Bynum on trumpet and flugelhorn, Andrew Drury on drums and Ken Filiano on bass - plus the addition of the mezzo soprano singer Deanna Relyea and Piotr Michalowski on soprano sax and clarinet. The second part of the work, titled Words of Our Own, includes baritone Thomas Buckner on vocals, Joe McPhee on tenor sax and trumpet pocket, William Parker on bass, Sang Won Park in kayagum, ajeng and vocals and Jason Kao Hwang viola; while the texts are here Lester Afflick poets, Fay Chiang, Steve Dalachinsky, Patricia Spears Jones and Yuko Otomo. 

Voice launch will take place in January 2016 and its edition will be in charge of Innova Recordings label.

La primera de ellas incluye poemas de Lester Afflick, Patricia Spears Jones y Davida Singer y cuenta con el respaldo instrumental del cuarteto EDGE –integrado por su líder en violín, Taylor Ho Bynum en corneta y fiscorno, Andrew Drury en batería y Ken Filiano en contrabajo– más el agregado de la cantante mezzo soprano Deanna Relyea y Piotr Michalowski en saxo sopranino y clarinete. La segunda parte de la obra, titulada Words of Our Own, incluye al barítono Thomas Buckner en voz, Joe McPhee en saxo tenor y trompeta de bolsillo, William Parker en contrabajo, Sang Won Park en kayagum, ajeng y voz y Jason Kao Hwang en viola; en tanto que los textos corresponden aquí a los poetas Lester Afflick, Fay Chiang, Steve Dalachinsky, Patricia Spears Jones y Yuko Otomo. 

El lanzamiento de Voice tendrá lugar en enero de 2016 y su edición estará a cargo del sello discográfico Innova Recordings.
