My thanks to Jason for sending me a copy of Soliloquies. I was intrigued by the concept of unaccompanied pizzicato violin improvisations.   Even if the score is notated, performing pizzicato on violin poses many challenges (string crossing and sting selection accuracy, precision in articulation, dynamics - delicate to bold, rhythmic consistency especially in fast passages).  To improvise as Jason does on this recording is thrilling not only because he meets those challenges but because his musicality comes through so beautifully.  His 'stories' are poems and they are wonderful.  I will be eager to share the recording with listeners to my jazz programs.
